6 Helpful Skin Care Tips for Regular Flyers!

Everyone loves travelling for business or pleasure, but constant flying can wreak havoc on your skin. The recycled air in airplanes causes the skin to dry out which can lead to irritation, a dull and sallow complexion, as well as premature aging. If you travel a lot then read on to learn some simple tips to ensure you keep your youthful glow and bring the life back into your skin.

1. Pre-Flight Skin Care
Before leaving for your flight it is important to prepare your skin for the trip. You want to start with fresh, clean skin and if possible travel make-up free. Follow your normal daily skincare routine with our simple 3-Step System, starting with the cleanser. The next step is often overlooked, however the Toning Mist (Toning MUST), is an important step as in increases hydration levels, and help boost the skin’s radiance by helping skin better absorb the moisturiser ingredients. The final step is to apply the moisturiser to nourish and protect your skin. Suitable for all skin types, the hydrating moisturiser is lightweight, non-pore clogging, and creates that fresh, more youthful, radiant complexion. If travelling make up free is not an option, we recommend using either a mineral based make up, or adding a small amount of your foundation to your moisturiser to allow your skin to breathe. A little blusher is also great as it will give the look of a healthy glow. All our products are under 100ml and come with a small, sealable plastic bag making it perfect for you to carry around, even when on a flight.

2. Water
Of course one of the one of the most important things you can do to keep your skin hydrated is to ensure you drink lots of water. As soon as you clear baggage grab a big bottle of water to keep with you on your flight so you can keep yourself, and your skin, hydrated throughout your journey. Try to avoid caffeinated drinks and teas while flying, as they can dry out your skin.

3. Hydrating Sprays
Hydration mists are the perfect addition to any travel bag. They provide instant moisture in the dry environment of an airplane and allow for a fresh, clean sensation. Two of the best natural ingredients that work well to penetrate
the skin and moisturize at a cellular level are Aloe Vera and Rose Geranium. Our toning mist contains both, and spritzing your face and neck every hour or two will keep your skin fresh and hydrated. These natural fruit extracts and antioxidants will brighten our skin throughout your flight, and on arrival.

4. Moisturizer
A good water based moisturiser is key when traveling. As we mentioned before, start your travel day by applying moisturizer to your face so your skin will be able to hold in moisture during the flight. It is best to use a light moisturiser so it can be reapplied while in flight, and during your travels.
Our moisturiser contains ingredients such as:

  • Vitamin E – which is highly emollient keeps the skin hydrated and works well to protect the skin in dry conditions.
  • Aloe Vera – which is soothing and is known for its healing properties.
  • Cucumber Extract – which has the antioxidant Vitamin C to help soothe the skin, calm any irritation, and relieve puffy skin.

The combination of these ingredients will help to lock in moisture, keep the skin feeling hydrated and fresh, and allow for soft and supple skin during your travels.

Where possible get some sleep on your flights to help avoid arriving at your destination looking tired. Rest helps with cell renewal and rejuvenation, as the skin repairs itself.

Just prior to landing you can use a small amount of cleanser on a make-up pad to give your skin a good wipe over. This will remove any surface oil and dirt and ensure your skin is clean. A quick spray of the toning mist and moisturiser will help your skin appear more vibrant and fresh. After your mini skin-care routine, you can then apply make-up if you choose. Go for a natural foundation, a soft light pink or peach blush, mascara and a little natural lip gloss for a fresh look.

As much as we all love a good adventure, long flights and constant plane travel can lead to dry, dehydrated and tired looking skin. Incorporating these steps and using our simple 3-step system to keep your skin fresh and hydrated, not only can you enjoy your travels, but you can also look and feel amazing.
